    Default Magazine Carriers

Do any of you guys have setups to carry magazines on the body?

I did a price list to set up a Molle vest with some magazine pouches MALICE'ed to it....But that end up being a little costly.

I've been on google trying to find something...but all I want is a chest rig that will hold at least 6 standard 5.56 magazines. Multicam is what I want...but OD green is acceptable. Something that isn't sold at some exorbitant price.

    EDIT:

    Something like this: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE724-1.html

But like I said..I'd like to find one in multicam before I settle on one in OD green.

The rig I WAS looking at cost $200+...not willing to go that high for it's purpose.

The Modgear stuff seems a bit too cheap...

And Eagle? I'll look at them....I really don't want to go over $100...all I want is something to hold the magazines up front like the rig I put the link to. MOLLE webbing for accessories is okay...but not necessary.

    EDIT:

Thanks for the suggestion...Eagle makes what I want

Just have to find it somewhere in stock

Check the classifieds at arfcom, m4carbine.net, lightfighter, zombiehunters.org. I've seen a few up for grabs for pretty good prices.

maybe a preconfigured vest would be the way to go for you. Add a couple belt mag holders for faster reloads than the pouches and call it a day.

I have a molle setup but I'm looking to get something different or completely redo my "kit". I don't like my current setup, its akward and slow.

I just prefer tight open top pouches to the closed flap pouches.

What are you wanting to carry. I guess we should have asked that first. If your wanting to carry a full basic compat load than something like you showed will work. Obviously the quality wot be like some other big names, but what do you expect. This gear will probably sit in a closet 99% of the time.
I would start with a couple kydex or plastic belt mag pouches and work from there. I got these BLADE-TECH : BROWNELLS AR-15/M16 TEK-LOK MAGAZINE POUCH - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools and they work pretty well. They arent great with Pmags though but I think thier other model is. I'm pretty sure Safariland makes one also for around the same price point.

Even if your running a chest rig at least one reload from the hip is going to be desrible, because its much faster than a chest rig (Watch Magpuls video).

Anyhow I hope this helped a little. I'm off to bed. Figure out what all you wanna carry and let us know. We'll go from there. Maybe it will help me figure out what I want to do with my setup as well.

Yep..basic combat load... 6 mags on body. I have stuff that already carries what I need...flares...training grenades....etc....I just really hate the mag carriers I was issued for training.

And coincidentally , since your first post about magazines on the belt I've been watching Magpul videos and reading some literature and I can honestly say that the hip looks like a good alternative option to reload from first before going to vest...easier to get to when Prone as well...but I'm already used to laying mags down for planned point ambush and reloading off of my chest/stomach.

This is just something cheap to tide me over for STX.
