    Default Survival Books

For anybody into survival, a couple of books that I consider indispensable:

The U. S. Army Survival Manual - This is available online (free) at:
U.S. Army Survival Manual FM 21-76 - EQUIPPED TO SURVIVE (tm)

The U. S. Army Ranger Handbook. I don't know where they can be bought - I got mine from the Army - but if somebody knows someone on Benning.....

There are a TON of good survival books out there. The Army FM is a start but don't stop there. Google is a WONDERFUL thing.
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

Books a million has a book on clearance for around $13 called "Extreme Survival". Gives alot of the basics with some illustrations for firestarting, shelter building, traps, water purification, etc... For 13 bucks, thought it was a good deal.

I don't know where you could find one anymore, but I have the british SAS survival manual I found at a used book store a few years ago, and its as good as anything I've seen before. The descriptions and detail far exceed the U.S. Army manual.

We have some good books down at the shop. I start today and will have to take new note of them.
