Anybody ever try this?

I've played around with something very similar, but its usefulness is extremely limited. The one thing I absolutely NEED powered is a well pump, and one of those rigs won't do it. My shallow well has a hand pump, but to pump all the water I use, I'd have to have arms like Popeye's. The deep wells have to be pumped electrically. I live in an area that has maybe 10 power outages a year, sometimes for days at a time. I have an 8,200 Watt generator (commercial) and a homemade rig as well.
