    Default Regarding hydration....

We had a briefing on heat casualties and other things...hydration and keeping cool.

How to take care of heat casualties.

However.... what about hot and warm water?

Does it do anything to cool down your body if you drink it? Or help it all?

Or should you just avoid drinking warm water?

Sweating is an essential function that helps your body stay cool. I think drinking water that isn't cold will still help keep you cool as your body it going to sweat it out anyway.

I use to drink one 16oz bottle of water ever hour when I was working in the 125 degree heat of the engine room at work.

Here's a pretty good artical about water in the human body.

But it doesn't say anything about the temperature of the water.

I'm thinking more of....will drinking hot water give you benefit. Think about water that's been sitting in your car in the heat all day.

Would it help you survive if dehydrated? The hot water I mean.

That link just shows why cold water is good.

I'm sure it will keep you hydrated.......hot water is better than no water.

Ok, sorry I didn't help. Not sure what you are asking?

I do know without water you will die. I don't think it matters what the temp is.

I'm saying that when a person is dehydrated, close to heat casualty...will hot, almost scalding water do anything to help them or should it be avoided...
