    Default Single Shot Shotgun?

    Why would I want one?

    They're only $70...but I can't justify buying one.

    Any good reasons?

Hmmm I have almost enough 20 gauge ammo that it would be worth buying something to shoot it with......

Eh....Maybe one day when I'm retired.

Right now it just seems desirable because it's inexpensive.

Just can't think of a use other than fun...

I've got one I cut the barrel down to 19".Still meets the overall 26" minimum and it's shorter than a pump that's been cut down because of the receiver.Drilled, tapped and installed a bead sight.Even with no choke,Federal LE buckshot flight control still holds a tight pattern at 50ft.Can stay loaded for years and someone who has practiced a lot can shoot and reload quick.Handy and cheap little shotgun.

    Lots of reasons.
    As noted, they're inexpensive.
I have several that I use to test ammunition.
Taught both my sins to hunt with single shots.
    Lightweight.
I carry a couple behind the seat of my truck - if they get some dings, I don't care.

I use to hunt tree rats with my 20gauge when I was a kid. My parents still have the gun with them in FL.

I have a 16gauge in my closet that a friend gave me years ago,but no ammo.

    Hm.....I think you've sold me.

I just have to choose 20 or 12 guage....You have any pictures?

    Suggested Manufacturer?

I'd like to cut one down like that.

Law says they use have to be 26" long? That's pretty short.

Does anyone sell them like that?

Sorry,I don't know how to post a picture without crashing my computer.Maybe Jack can take one next time he's home.Mine's just a New England I bought used for about $75.00 from a pawn shop.12 gauge.Taped the barrel with duct tape and used a pipe cutter with light turns.Used a drill with a grinding stone to remove the burr that was left inside the barrel.Cold blue on end.I'll have to check the overall lenght but it's short(as in "is that thing legal").Gave an extra inch just in case some ATF has a dowel rod that's not exactly accurate.Just make sure you measure well before you cut.The Federal flight control works good but anything else is probably going to go all over the place at any distance.I'll dig mine out and measure it in a little while.Been meaning to take it out anyway.Edit:Total length is 34 1/4".Barrel is 18 7/8".Only 7" of barrel sticks out past the forearm.

A pipe cutter? Cool, never thought of that.

And cool...I was also thinking about the NEF route.

Gotta hit some pawn shops and do some cutting.
