    Default My New Deer Slayer

Well boys, I traded my AR a few weeks ago for this Rem 700 SPS .300 WinMag and some cash. This rifle is in mint condition boys! It didn't have a scope, just Leupold rings and bases. My AWESOME girlfriend insisted on buying me a scope for it for my bday, so we went to Bass Pro and picked one out. We got a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40mm scope with BDC (bullet drop compensator) and I added some flip up scope caps to protect the investment. I can't wait to get it sighted in and starting killing some deer (and my shoulder) this season! Guess I will build another AR when money permits me to.

That's a nice looking rifle. Are you sure it's an SPS? Its stock and bolt look nicer than other ones I've seen.

I'm not 100% sure, but all the looking I did seemed to point to SPS. It might be the XCR?

I sighted it in yesterday after work. I installed my boresighter and when I looked through the scope the laser was almost perfectly aligned with the crosshairs. I barely had to adjust it. The first 2 rounds were perfect bullseyes! I've never mounted a scope and had it be that close AND shoot bullseyes with just boresighting!

Nothing wrong with that! What ammo are you going to use?

I usually use Winchester Ballistic Silvertips for my 30-06, but for the 300 win mag they want about $40 a box!!!! So I figured I'd give the Hornady Custom 150gr SST Interlock. The true test will be on a deer or hog.
