    Default Paper Patching

Anyone paper patching here? I now have molds for all my rifle calibers (.223, .243, .308, .30-06, .300 win mag and .270) and want to paper patch them so I can run the full speed. I would like to eventually only have to buy powder and primers for my shooting.

Would be nice to harvest game next year with, "one of my own."

I've heard of it, but I don't know anybody that does it.

If you get into it I'd like to come out and see how it's done.

Basically the jist is you have to undersize the cast "boolit" Say for my 308 I would under size to say 308 (309 is the standard size for cast boolits). I would then make two wraps of wet paper to get it to somewhere around 310. I then run the paper patch bullet after complete drying back through the .309 sizer and load using full pressure loads starting low of course.

The paper seperates after leaving the barrel leaving a unmarked projectile flying through the air.

I am going to expiermenting with gas checking them upon final sizing. The reason is to make double sure the base of the bullet is a perfect as possible for accuracy. Anyway once I get into it deep I will holla at you.

If I recal correctly, I could be wrong as I am in Myrtle Beach now and the molds are in Lyons

    55gr for 224
    95 gr for 243
    150gr for 270
    165gr for 8mm
    180gr for 30 cal

They will cast differently according to what alloy I use. I am really excited about this. If I get decent results I am going to only use cast in my shooting. May still have a few jacketed loads setup if I intend to shoot really far. 100-300 cast should be fine

do you want these freshly dropped? I do not have my sizer dies and stuff yet for the 8mm. If you want them fresh from the water how many do you want. If you will just replace the lead I use we will be even. There will probally be about 50 per pound, just won't know till I cast them. I use clip on wheel weights and water quinch them.

I'd love to see a post with some pictures next time you fire up the pot. I'd like to see how it's done.

yes, I will have to smelt it a little different as it is almost pure lead. It will need a little hardner added to it. The same as stick on wheel weights.

Clip on wheel weights seem tobe pretty much the ideal mixture.

I will not be setup to paper patch for a while still reading. The lubing method is what I am having a hardtime deciding on what I want to get.

I will check back here when I get the rifle bullets going.
