I want to reload 3" .410 slug rounds. Can some one tell me what equipment I need and what the step are compared to loading pistol rounds?

I want to stick single stage if that's what you are asking. I'm not progressive inclined...

Old thread, but.....Unless you plan on loading a whole lot of slugs, or you're going to reload shot too, it wouldn't be very cost-effective.

You need a press - a MEC 600jr is what I use for .410 loading. Add a couple of wad punches and that's about all you need for tooling, unless you want to roll crimp some shells. I do some roll crimping, not because of any necessity but because I like the look. Roll crimpers are available from Precision Reloading, the wad punches are simply a .38 Sprcial case, deprimed and a .41 Magnum case, deprimed. The punches are used for cutting filler wads - most reloaders go through life never needing them, but they sure are handy once in a while.

Biggest problem with loading .410 slugs is finding a suitable slug. The only thing I've come across that works pretty well is a Speer .38 148 grain HBWC. The weight-forward design tends to keep the slug from tumbling. The BC is terrible, but any .410 slug is a close-range proposition.
