Thread: Cabela's

I just returned from a 2 week road trip to Illinois and Michigan. While in the Chicago area, I went up to the Cabelas in Hoffman Estates (outside of Cook Co. and the city of Chicago) and found some great deals on ammo. They had some 7.62x39 (MFS, made in Hungary) reloadable, brass cases for a little over $6/20. I've used this before, as the Wolf etc. steel case stuff doesn't work worth crap in my Mini-30, but this stuff does great.

Well, Cabelas wouldn't sell it to me. I'm from out of state... Gotta be from IL and have a FOID.

Then in Michigan..... Spent 3 days at my S-I-L's she's about to retire in September with 30 years Michigan State Police, her soon-to-be husband is a former Detroit motorcycle cop, also retired from MSP and also retired from Army NG as a CSM. They told me that should we move to Michigan (wife and I have thought about returning, that's where we grew up) we would have to REGISTER all our handguns by taking them to the local police department.... I told them how it was here in GA.... geeze.

Anyway, I didn't get any ammo on the trip.

Nothing like living in a free country...oh, wait...

I think I'll stay here in GA.................

Here's a pic of my grandson Brendan and I at Cabela's. BTW, they had the whole upstairs closed down, and must less inventory than the Dundee Michigan store I visited 2 years ago.

The one in Birmingham, Al is very nice as well. Has a pretty good restaurant in it.

Had not seen one on their map in Birmingham - that's only 100 miles for me!
