    Default Winchester Self-Defense

Winchester has announced two new Self-Defense loads.

Winchester Announces New Shotshell Personal Defense Ammo : The Tactical Wire

I've seen two different descriptions of the 12 Gauge load, don't know which one is right. I cleverly deleted the announcement they sent to me before I saved it.

Anyhow, either way it is, it's a direct copy of a load I was putting together around 1970. Either way (Buck in front of Slug or Buck under Slug), it produces results that are interesting.

The .410 load looks to me to be a bad idea gone badder.:D

Thanks for the link DMC! I'm going to keep my eye out for this ammo when they release it.

Yeah, it looks interesting. I'm curious to see the patterning of the 3 00 buckshots around the slug.

If it's Buckshot out first, first shot will whack a pelican 40 feet up, a chipmunk 2 feet in front of you and the nosy neighbor lady off to the right. The slug might come close to POA, maybe not.

If it's Buck under the slug (the proper way), pattern will still be somewhat chancey - also depending on whether a spacer wad is used and the material/thickness of the spacer (if used). This way can be a pretty good load.
