Thread: Viper ATV winches.....????

Anybody have one? If you do how do you like it?

I just ordered the 4000# model from Highlifter along with a Viper winch mount.

I personally prefer Warn and Ramsey winches. Viper winches are relatively new to the ATV world, and I've heard mixed reviews since they came out. Most 4000 lbs models are meant for use on UTV's (side-by-sides), and can cause havoc on an ATV's electrical system because their increased pulling power requires more electrical power. I would have suggested a 2500 lbs Warn for your application.

Whatever you do, make sure you get synthetic rope for your winch. It's truly a life-saver when it comes to winching.

Where do I find the synthetic rope?

There are many imitators out there but I prefer the original, and the best, Masterpull.

You can get the synthetic rope off ebay also. I personally have a warn on mine and the wifes. A friend of mine has a viper and it has been a good winch for the money.

I looked at some of the Viper stuff the other day, and I thought it said that they all come with synthetic rope on them.

Watch out for the e-bay rope. Most of them are not UV coated properly and they will end up rotting prematurely. If you want to know more about it, just Google AM-STEEL BLUE.
