Real new to the area my first duty station really looking forward to do some hunting down here though, i'm from a northeastern Ohio big time deer and turkey hunter but wanna do some hog hunting just looking to get my feet wet and meet some people

One of my favorite things to do is hunt hogs on Fort Stewart! I should be home next week if you want to go try and find some hogs.

that'd be great i'm in the process of getting a shotgun i wasn't too sure on the regulations on bringing down weapons to ft stewart before i came here so i left everything back home i haven't met anybody here yet thats been into hunting so hopefully i can get out and do some hunting and meet some new people

you can bring any gun into GA and you do not have to register it either. unless you plan to live on post then you will have to reg it with the mp's. also if you live in the baracks you will havet o keep in in your units arms room or with some one off post

Welcome aboard! I hunt Ft Stewart pretty often. Jack (Strycnine), PLP, Capt Stan, and Zach go out there alot too. You are from big deer country, so don't expect too much as far as deer size here in SE GA! Hunting on FS requires a Hunter Safety/Education Card, no exceptions. I believe they except basically every states equivalent, so I'd imagine an Ohio card would work fine. Good luck and welcome to GA!

yeah i'll agree with the size of the deer here compared to back home big difference but yeah its good to be here looking to make the best of it and do some hunting
