    Hello,

    I am new to this site looking for assistance I have used the site http://www.gundirectory.com as my lead in looking for a .45 acp pistol. Looking for leads in the Metro Atlanta area or any gun shows that my be a good place for me to pick up this type of weapon. I've narrowed my search down to the following;

    Baretta PX4 Storm
    Full Size

    Taurus 24/7 Pistol

    Magnum Research
    Baby Desert Eagle

    Glock 35

    EAA Witness
    Polymer

    Taurus 100/101

    Smith & Wesson M&P

    Ruger P89 Series

Anyone who can chime in on any of these guns & locations where I could actually purchase I'd greatly appreciate it.

First off, welcome. Secondly, you don't care for 1911's? Choose your answer carefully.

Well, personally, there are only 4 of those pistols I would consider.

    Witness P is pretty decent
Baby eagle is pretty decent too. They're almost the same pistol internally, just different weight and appearance.
If you want a glock, I would check out the 21sf. The 36 is fine too, just not particularly suited for me, and it seems like your looking for a full size auto anyway.
The one I like best however, is the M&P. Can't go wrong with it.

I'm more a revolver person, but I have, and have had, quite a few autos too. I sold both of my .45 ACPs (A Colt & a Star) I have a Ruger P85 MkII 9mm that I don't particularly like. I have two Glocks, both .40 S&W which I think makes more sense than the .45ACP (but most here would disaggree). The Glock 27 - too small don't particularly like it, and then I have the Model 23 with the internal LaserMax laser - I really like this gun, for an automatic. It's my go-to gun in the house.

I couldn't disagree with the S&W M&P others have mentioned - never held or shot one, but they look good and I've heard decent things about them.
