Got off today at 3pm.I went to a super thick drain where there was a little water standing.I saw 3 deer.1 around 5:30pm,the other 2 about 5:50pm.I heard a grunt off to my left.A few minutes later I saw a ham of a walking deer coming off the palmetto hill heading towards the grunt.I lost sight of that deer, then I heard brush being moved back where I heard the grunt.I saw a big bodied deer, but couldn't see the head good. The 2 deer got together and I got to see them breed! That was the first time. They never got less than 75yds.I couldn't get a shot.Thick wet drains are the ticket in late season!3hrs and 15 minutes of hunting.

    1/15/09 End of deer season

1-19-09 Went out today and slipped for hogs.Saw 8 deer, and 5 hogs between 3:45pm and 6pm.Shot a white hog with black polka dots at 6pm rooting in a grassy opening. The hogs are in VERY thick stuff, and the deer are still staying in thick green swampy spots.2 1/2 hours hunting time..Also saw 1 deer on the way home at around 7pm

Jan 24th Put in a total of 4 hours slipping for hogs.I saw 4 deer at daylight, and we got on 2 hogs that were feeding @ 10:50am...Tommy got a 70# sow..Hogs are in stuff so thick snakes crawl around it.You can hear them but can't even see them in it.They won't budge until you get on top of them.

Also busted up atleast 5 turkeys.

Went squirrel hunting around the house with my oldest son.I shot 3 squirrels,he missed a few.We got some more target practice in on some coke cans. He's still flinching bad,but atleast not as scared to pull the trigger. He'll come around..hopefully in time for turkey season.1 hour hunting time.

1-29-09 Got off work today, and went hunting with my friend Allen.Stalked for a while, and finally saw a doe in a clearing.Went a little farther, and saw a sow,but she busted us.Slipped up where she was real quick, and saw three 30 pounders. They were headed left,so I sen allen that way. There was some palmetto's between us and the hogs.He couldn't get a clean shot, and they were headed back to the right..Where I was.I motioned for him to come to me.He started to come, but one of the hogs got suspicious. It grunted out its warning grunt, and took off trotting.I was the only one with a shot,so when it stopped I took it.It ran 35yds.Good size for the smoker..lol

    3 deer seen today,3 hogs,no turkeys,1 1/2 hrs in the woods.

Went stalking in the swamp today after work.Right at dark walked up on 2 boars fighting.A big black one,and a big grey one.I had a good shot on the grey one(the one I was hoping to get)but decided to move a little closer.Took 5 steps and 30-40 wood ducks flew up between us,and scared them away.Atleast I know a place to go start next time.1hr 15 min hunting time.

    Yearly totals..

    42hrs 15 min hunting time.

    32 deer
    12 hogs
    7 turkeys
