Most people are thinking about poultry
But I am still thinking about pork!Today was the last day for hogs, since turkey is coming in tomorrow.I can still shoot hogs on the WMA's,but I am not sure how often I will get to go since I will be heading out to Kansas for rio's,and Nebraska for Merriams.
Anyways.I was trying to pin old tom down this evening.I didn't have any luck with that, but low and behold 15 minutes before shooting light was over I found myself standing in the edge of a swamp with my 11-87 in hand loaded down with 1oz Foster type slugs, and my tru-glo red dot...Looking right at 4 porkers.I decided to start with the one that was 50yds out(the one fartherest away),and see how many of them I could knock down.I shot him and he dropped, the other 3 took off and I got on the next hog looking to take a running shot,I swung on it and when I was just about right pulled the trigger, but while I was aiming didn't notice the stump in the way until the exact moment I shot..Oh well.I had another one stop in front of me confused,so I got a good shot on her.
The first one was a 3yr old 100# hybrid boar, and the second one was a 2yr old hybrid sow.She was in terrible shape. She should have been atleast 65# but was around 40#Hips were shoing, backbone was showing. This is the 3rd one I've taken like that in the last 3 months. She didn't have pigs, and no sag either. She was just very sick. The boar will do great on the grill however!

Even indians laid down their bows, and picked up guns....
