Me and Stan linked up after work, and went to one of his favorite spots, deep in the swamp, way away from hog doggers, and roadhunters. It started out not looking too promising though. We covered 1/3 of a mile, and crossed several sloughs with no luck.
We slipped up on 3 does.2 of them came close to me.1 ran within 20yds of me,one ran to within 35yds of me,and the other one was within 10ft of stan..lol.The wind was whippin so bad they really didn't know what to do.Shortly after that Stan started finding some fresh rootings, and we headed towards thicker cover.
We got back together, and I decided to take one slough, and he took the other.Bad choice on my part.100yds later he smoked a 80# sow.He hollared at me to run back the way I came in,and I took off in a sprint. He said he saw a big orange pumpkin blasting through the brush(me)..lol...I stopped to hear the hogs, and one was coming. He was about 50yds out and going from left to right..he was stretched out wide open!!.I picked out an opening, and when his head hit my crosshairs...BAM!!The t/c triumph erupted, and then I heard it..RRRREEEEEEEEEeee!!Pig down!I reloaded, ran over there, and made a quick finishing shot.I had hit him in the spine with the first shot.Nice 75 pounder. They looked like twins.
Awesome end to a great hunt!!Except for the 4/10 of a mile drag bag to the truck.
Stans camera seems to be a little off with the brightness..
Here I am with both hogs.Mine is on the left.
Here is Stan with the hogs
Here I am draining out my hip waders...lol..Yeah we got deep!
