Default MY first hog of the year

Me and a few friends headed out today.I linked up with Robert who is G&G78's friend.I was hoping to help him get his first hog.We started slipping at around 3:45pm.We headed towards the swamp, and started easing along the hill.We jumped a doe and she stood broadside at 35yds!Yes..They know season is out..

We continued on,and jumped 5 more deer down in the bottom. They were in the same type of thick green stuff I had noticed them in the other day at a differemt spot,so my new tactic is dead on for late season deer.

As we crossed a deep ridge and headed back up on higher ground we stopped to take a break.I heard a hog make a very short squeal about 50yds away.We slipped to withing range and could hear it breathe, and hear it tear grass with it's mouth, but it was so thick we couldn't get a shot.Couldn't even see it.It eventually busted us I guess, and we headed on towards a grassy area we hoped they would be rooting in.

We walked up on a doe with one ear that was broken, and another 150yds away walked up on either a big 6 or small 8.We arrived at the grassy area and there were two 65 pound black hogs out there. We started slipping down the edge of the tree line, and got about 65yds from them when I saw 2 bigger white hogs with black polka dots step out about 60yds from us.

I told robert we would shoot on his mark.1..2..and shoot..don't say 3..He said ok..He said he was on the first one,and I said ok I am on the 2nd one.He took his gun off safety and counted 1..2..and then I was the only one that shot?My hog went down, and all 3 of the others were running..He had forgotten to pull the hammer back on his muzzleloader..He pulled off a shot on one of the black ones but it never went down, and we couldn't find it.I did find my hog,and here it is.

Very nice coloring! I wish I could've went today, but I had to work today while ya'll celebrated MLK day in the woods. I really wish Robert could've laid one down, but he'll have other chances. Thanks again for letting him tag along.

I told him I may have a chance to look for it.I hope so.If I find it that will count for his first in my book, but it does suck we couldn't recover it.I was not as happy because I would have rather him taken one,I've taken plenty before, but it was just messed up how it all went down..If I had asked him did he **** the hammer back for sure, then everything would have been different.
