Default Red lights for varmint hunting

Is it true that animals such as coyote, skunk, opossum, racoons, ect cannot see a regular light with a red filter over it?

Based on my experiments with raccoons in a friend's trapline, I know that they SEE red light, but seem not to be disturbed by it.

I have recorded their actions when illuminated by a red light. and it only disturb them when the strobe in my Fenix is operated.
When I shine on them a red laser, they try to grab the red spot.
