    Default Hog+DOG + KNIFE = fun?

well ive got a knife only hog dog hunt coming up. i have never done this before so whats a good knife to use? now im planning on using my 6in blade KA BAR. figure if its good enough to carry in iraq for a year it can stick a pig. least thats the theory. was told by the guy running it that he regularly takes 250lb hogs, so this should be interesting.

I would be looking for something in the 7 1/2-8" range MINIMUM. Your going to be sticking them behind the shoulder/ribcage and trying to reach vitals.

If it was me, I would be looking for a Scrapyard Knives Dogfather. They are no longer made but you can find them on the secondary market. They are from the Busse family of knives and well worth the money and time spent finding one.

Busse / Swamprat / Scrapyard Knives For Sale - BladeForums.com

I would start looking here. You'll have to sign up but its worth the trouble. If I was going on a knife hunt I would be **** sure I had a GOOD blade to do it. I have a Swamp Rat Chopweiller (also from the Busse family) and that things unbeatable. I was beating the hell out of it on my last camping trip and it just begged for more. I split firewood for a good hour with it. When I couldn't chop through something I simply battoned it through with another log. I was beating on the tip and hilt.grip with no damage. Even knots in hardwood didnt stop it.

Spend dome $$$ and get a quality blade. You wont regret it.

Another option would be an Ontario RTAK or RTAK II. These are less expensive and not as high quality but still good blades for a production knife.

ONTARIO KNIFE RTAK II RANDALL TRAINING ADVENTURE KNIFE

If you shop around you can probably find one under $100

BTW where are you doing the knife hunt? Is it a guided hunt? I would love to try this.

There are some knife hunt videos on youtube if you look. Bloody as hell. One guy actually takes a pig with a flint knife he made.

Now you have me looking at new blades. Damnit. Busse just introduced a new knife that would be perfect but its $327. Thats kinda steap. May have to get one anyhow.
