    Default This years Alaska gun

In 2007 I took my Super Redhawk .454 and found it to be quite a load on my non-existant hips. I will spend about 3 1/2 weeks up there this summer, most at my brothers place a long ways east of Fairbanks on the Yukon River. There are only about 120 people in the valley, and my brother lives 6 miles out of town. You can see my pics at Eagle, Alaska, the place to be!

Anyway, I like my Blackhawk .45 so much, I've worked up a 300g LBT style hardcast from Cast Performance over 22g of WW296 that should be giving me about 1100-1200 fps. I know this doesn't compare with the Buffalo Bore 360g at 1425 fps out of my Casull - but I think it will do. My brother lives in the village of Eagle, thus the eagle grips.

    Nice looking iron!

I just looked at your pictures and they are awesome. I like the simple way of life your photos show. How much did Shandras property cost where she has the yurt?

I'll have to ask her. I'm sure not much. I think my brother for his 8 or so acres on the Yukon was less than 100k. Yeah - it was like travelling back into the 50's - no cell phones, no kids slacking their pants - no loud music. No one had cars/trucks for profiling - they were all business. A lot of sharing and bartering. I loved it.
