Default Went To The Indoor Today

Went shooting today. All I brought with me was my .45 and .32. I put almost 270 rds through the .45 but changed my mind about the .32 due to limited ammo.

250 rds were UMC Ball and 20 were mixed JHP just to remember the feel of good JHP (Hydra, Winchester ?somethingorother?, and Powerball). ****, it gets expensive but **** it feels good. What, I paid about $65.00+/- for bulk UMC at Wallyworld IIRC (its been awhile since then) plus about $1.00+ per round of good JHP. I was cleaning up the brass and I thought to myself that I could really save some cash and shoot alot more if I reloaded my own.

But I digress. I paid at the counter and picked up two Boresnakes while there. I think I was out about $130.00 by the time the door shut behind me but I didn't mind so much. Anyway, how much do you guys put through your pistol(s) in a day at the range?

We have a nice range about 2 miles from the house. Advanced Bullets - Temple, GA

The most I've ever shot while there is the 300 rounds or so I did a few weeks ago with my new Ruger 2245. Most generally I take my Blackhawk .45 or my GP100 .357. With those I usually go through 50 rounds. I reload, so it doesn't cost a whole lot. $4.99/50 and $7.31/50 respectfully, while my .454 loaded like the .45 runs $7.59/50 - I'm not including any brass cost, because I have a good supply. The cost the next go-around will be a few cents higher because of primer costs.

Range costs here are good. Wife and I pay $40/year membership and then pay $2.50/hour/each while shooting. Without a membership it's $5/hr

I reload too but when I shoot my pistol at the range 3 or 4 hundred it don't cost that much. I buy bulk boxed 22's for under $20

I don't spend to much on ranges because my buddy Daivd has a good placce to shoot on his property. We use to shoot out there pretty regular, but since the price of ammo went up I've quit shooting as much. Now I mostly shoot a .22lr out behind the house.

    What range did you visit?

I went to Shooters Indoor. Small place but the most accessible for me. I'd rather be outdoors but beggars can't be choosy. Used to have a free public range that I could go to but the entity that managed the property closed it down due to a lack of respect by some of the (ab)users. Leave it to a few to mess it up for the many.

    Guys,
As far as how much to shoot when you go to the range, I offer the following:
    - Generally it's not a good idea to shoot more than 100-150 rounds at a session. The main reason is that you have a tendancy to get tired, start making mistakes and reinforcing the wrong things.
    - I will load a couple of magazines at a time and shoot then take the time I'm reloading to think about what I'm doing.
    - It dosen't make any difference what you're shooting, fatigue becomes a factor.
    - You should also shoot some standards at each session (i.e. 5 rounds slow fire at 5 yds - freestyle, strong hand only, support hand only).
    Just some opinions.

"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

Don't do much 100 rds or so shooting since the price has sky rocketed on ammo and It is really getting very hard to get 380 ammo...Of course i have my ole 22 mag pistol and Rifle to shoot ......But I agree with gatactical too much shooting seems to make you wandering around with the shooting from fatigue...
