wow, that sig light (SIG SAUER STL-900L) is tidy looking light and it comes with a laser. and believe it or not, Cheaper Than Dirt appears to have it cheapest at $137.

I like the tlr-1 and xml, too.

Good thread. I had been looking at lights. Amazing how much some local shops mark up stuff. Hard to beat that CTD price on the Sig.

I’ve been looking online for pictures of XDM with lights to see how they fit. This is what I came up with.

XDM with Insight X2 (XML) and X2+laser

I usually hear the X2 being mounted on compact XDs, and I wondered if it fit properly against the trigger guard of the full size XDM. These pictures show that it does. Plus the entire mount is grabbing on to the rail. Its fits the XDM nicely. It looks like the light costs about ~$130 (maybe less). One battery with a run time of 30 minutes at 40 lumens. That seems like low power and short run time compared to the other two. The X2 with laser can be found for ~$180. I saw a holster designed for the XDM with insight X2, but I can’t find it now. This will primarily be a home defense pistol, so holsters are not a priority.

XDM with Streamlight trl-1 edited to add: whoops this one is a tlr-2, I can't find a good pic XDM with a tlr-1

The tlr sets properly against the trigger guard and most of the rail mount is making contact with the rails. Its bigger with two batteries but that means it comes with much more light (130 lumens) and over 2 hours of run time. It’s inexpensive at ~$100. The only downsize appears to be increased size and weight, but those seem negligible. I wonder which holsters can accommodate the XDM with this light (but not a priority issue).

    XDM with Sig Light

This light doesn’t have the trigger guard nubs and a 1/3 of the mount doesn’t grab on to the rails. But this light does a lot with a light at 130 peak lumens at 80 minutes, strobe light, and laser on 1 battery. CTD has it listed for $137. The fit to the XDM worries me a bit.

    Tough choices.

As far as aesthetics, I like the X2 the best. But if you plan on using this as a bedside gun, I'd go with the TLR1.
