Thread: Is this Legal?

I want to get a pistol on my 21st birthday. i know i have to wait three days. does anybody know if it is legal to start the process three days before in order to facilitate a pickup on my birthday? also i want a conceal carry permit can i start that process before my birthday as well?

Are you from GA? If so, there is no 3-day waiting period. We have the "instant" check the dealer does by phone.

There is no 3 day waiting period, but you do have to wait until your birthday to buy a pistol and/or apply for your carry permit. It isn't called a concealed carry permit; it's called a Georgia Firearms License (or GFL for short). It affords you the opportunity to either carry concealed or openly. Check out www.georgiapacking.org and www.georgiacarry.org for more information. Once you get your carry permit, you bypass the called-in check and your permit number is written on the form 4473 as the alternative. The form 4473 is what you and the dealer complete upon the purchase of a firearm (with some exceptions..black powder, etc., I believe). Hope that helps you get started.
