    Default duck hunting

Not sure where to post this topic at.

I am new to duck hunting. Started last year with a buddy from Birmingham. Hunted in AL, but thats a heck of a drive. Any places in NW GA to duck hunt? Public land?

I've never tried it myself, but I'd love to get on some GA wood ducks.

I haven't duck hunted nearly as much as I have wanted to but it's awesome if it is the right setup and a good dog or two.
My last trip was pretty near a total disaster(new dog, gun problems, friend's 14 yr old son who was a complete jackass, truck stuck) but even still it was exciting. I cussed a lot though.
Did some checking and drew a total blank on NW GA...i know there has to be a place.
its not the arrow, it's the indian....

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

Going to look and maybe buy a 14' duck boat tonight. I have a few areas in mind. If anybody is up close to Dalton let me know. Gonna need a couple hunting partners this season

Glad to see your enthusiasm. I need to get amped up about it again.
I lost my most favorite duck spot when my friend was offered a stupid amount of money for the property last year. I was already looking out for places when you posted.
Unfortunately I'm in SW ga - you'd be closer to N Alabam by a good bit.
I haven't gotten as hi tech as a duck boat or any of that.

The most important piece of gear I have found (especially around L.O.) is a good pair of waders.

The duck bug bit me pretty hard last year. new shotgun, waders, ect...

We hunted Guntersville last year. Dang there are a lot of ducks on that lake! Its just a heck of a drive....

The boat I am looking at is nothing fancy. Early 90's 14' jon boat with 3hp air cooled motor. Just enough to sneak around the edge of most small lakes/swamps.
