Thread: first spear fishing trip

so i went to the J bouy and shot my first fish, issue was it was a 4ft amber jack, i didnt think it would fight as much as it did, the thing pulled me like 300 meters off the reck, then bent my stainless steel spear into a U shape, and got off. maybe i should have started with a sheep head. what a blast

Was told by some who bowfish, where I am, they can really pull you!! It bent your SS spear? Sounds you had fun, though.

bwahahaha!! thats awesome!! the aj is not the first fish to shoot you will start passing them up, shoot some sheepshead and then some grouper they taste better anyway.
