    Default Canadian Fly-in fishing trip

My father, son, and I are gonna be flying in to remote canadian lake this july to do some fishing. We are gonna be fishing for walleye and northern pike mostly. Any of ya'll ever do one of these before? This will be our first time. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks Jimmy

The lake that we are gonna be fishing in holds the province record for the largest pike taken last year. It was HUGE.

I did a similar trip back in the 70's to Birch Lake in northern Ontario. There were 12 of us. We flew into Red Lake, then boarded seaplanes. A nice experience landing and taking off on water. Each day we loaded our gear in the boats (2 men to a boat) 2 of the boats were "supply" ships... they had the beer coolers, the rest of us kept beer in buckets until we needed resupplied. Most mornings we followed the guide for about 2 hours to get to where we would troll. Didn't get anything huge, but a bunch of walleyes and northern. We stopped for a "shore lunch" each day. As I recall we used rapala lures. One evening, I found that you could catch the same fish, almost the same size, by casting off the dock.... We were there about 3 days. Great time. - best meal was prime rib cooked in a woodstove.
