Default Old photo (1996) Gumby suit

I'm scanning old photos and I found this one of me in my "Gumby" survival suit aboard the NOAA research vessel Chapman out in the gulf of Mexico. We had to be able to don the suit in under one minute. I was part of the scientific crew on this National Marine Fisheries cruise. Yes, we caught some nice fish! (My favorite was a red hind that we cooked on the grill) The Chapman was about 130 feet and we had 15 people on board. the guy in the blue in the photo was our executive officer. I'm including some other photos too.

And one of many small barracuda I caught with my spinning rod, it's a LONG pull up to the deck of the ship.....

    VERY COOL.

What'd you use to catch the fish?

I find that Sonar thing funny.

As I recall, I was using a daredevil spoon.... Some of the others would use hunks of fish that we had brought up in the fish trap. Because we were doing research, we were allowed to fish in "closed areas" like the East and West Texas Flower Garden reef areas...(see http://www.gulfbase.org/reef/view.php?rid=fgb1) We did have to measure, record, and send certain parts of the fish we caught off to different universities.
