Thread: LR-308 for deer

Anyone know if there is a magazine capacity limit when deer huntin? I plan on using my DPMS LR-308 (new sportical) and don't want to get jacked up by da man. I do plan on getting a 5-round clip when I can find one. Anyone else here use an AR for deer? I know I'm gonna catch some flak from the traditional bolt gun hunters but I don't feel comfortable with anything else. After being in the military 24 years I know the AR platform better than my wife.

I just called DNR and they said there's no magazine capacity limit for deer hunting with a semi-auto center fire rifle. Looks like you have nothing to worry about.

I always assumed (wrongfully) there was a 10 round limit.

I've been tempted but have never hunted with an AR. Even though you can carry more firepower, you may find the 5 round mag easier to maneuver with in a stand. Good luck.
